I have tried to capture the atmosphere of these landscapes just as I saw them, without adding personal feelings, as I don’t think that anything needs to be added to such natural beauty.”

Harriet Challis-Jones lives and works in a house surrounded by fields, overlooking Newborough Forest, with her husband and younger daughter. She studied at Wrexham College of Art and Design where she specialised in Jewellery. She has always loved painting and drawing and she has developed a technique that combines the use of pastel and watercolour. She first exhibited work in 1989 when her A level piece was accepted for the Annual Summer Exhibition at Plas Mawr. Since then she has regularly exhibited and sold work at the Royal Cambrian Academy, other Open Exhibitions and had a regular turn around of work in Anglesey Art House. She has recently returned to college part-time to study for a Fine Art Degree through Bangor University.

A workshop/training session come social will be held for Forum members at Glyn Davies' Gallery Menai Bridge on Friday 9 February starting at 7 pm. Subjects will include sizing images for the web, accessing and updating profiles on the website and points to look out for in Arts Weeks 2007. The idea is to work hard, and then head off for a drink and bite to eat afterwards.

Glyn Davies Gallery
The Oriel Glyn Davies Gallery currently shows the fine-art photography of established and qualified fine-art landscape photographer Glyn Davies BA(Hons) AOP.
However there is now an opportunity for established 3D artists/craftspeople to hire one of the rooms within the gallery as your own personal exhibition space on a semi permanent basis for a simple monthly charge plus reduced commission fees. There is also space within the main gallery for smaller exhibits by other 3D artists / jewellers / ceramicists, again for a small monthly charge and low commission fee.
Applicants will need to make an appointment to discuss their work with Glyn Davies in order to establish which artist’s works will compliment the gallery most closely. Glyn is committed to support only full time professional artists in this first instance.

Just a reminder that it is the AAF's AGM tonight in Canolfan Ucheldre, Holyhead beginning with a meet and greet from 6-7 pm followed by opening of AGM by Chairman Anglesey County Council, Councillor John Rowlands. After 7.30 Côr y Traeth will sing , and a few artists will talk about their work. There is still the opportunity for anyone to come forward and perform or talk; it is very informal and more like the idea of an open mic. We will not be having the formal presentations on tax and copyright, but a demonstration by Glyn Davies about how to use the Forum's website and get the best out of it that you can. I do hope you will be able to make it.

I’LL SHOW YOU MINE IF YOU SHOW ME YOURS and AGM – THURSDAY 21 SEPTEMBER 2006 and ANGLESEY ARTS WEEKS 31 MARCH – 15 APRIL 2007
I’ll Show You Mine If You Show Me Yours
An AGM with a difference. We want to keep the business side to absolute minimum, say 15 minutes, and make it an opportunity for members to share and show examples of their work over the past year. We envisage it being a highly informal event with the opportunity to display sketchbooks, drawings, photographs, paintings, publications or other work throughout the room. For the performing arts we will have a couple of TVs and a projector if anyone wanted to show CD/DVD/Videos. In addition there will be an opportunity for up to 10 volunteers to talk for a maximum 5 minutes each, a choir or part of one, and perhaps a sketch from a drama group; please complete pink form and return as soon as possible. Also 2 short, maximum 15 minutes, presentations on business tax aspects and intellectual property rights! The rough timetable is as follows:

2006 Arts Weeks - New Works: This is a sample of just some of the new images printed for the opening night Private View at Glyn's gallery in Menai Bridge.
In support of this registered charity, The Pensychnant Nature Conservation Centre, photo-artist Glyn Davies has staged a new landscape exhibition entitled "Latest Works" in the main house at the Centre. Most of the images have been shot in just the last few months but one or two brand new works appear here that have not yet been seen in his own gallery. Image prices are identical to Oriel Glyn Davies but 30% of all sales will go to this wildlife and environment foundation which Glyn is pleased to support. If you have any queries, please contact Glyn on 01248 715511 or Julian (warden) at the Pensychnant Centre on 01492 592595.
