The 2007 Anglesey Arts Weeks ended last Sunday 15 April, and we would like to thank all participants and visitors alike for their interest and involvement.  We have yet to have full feedback but, once again, a very positive response particularly to the very smart Guide.

Next year's dates are set for Easter, 15-30 March 2008.

So congratulations to everyone on another successful event.

Last Weekend of the Arts Weeks

It's still great, great weather on Anglesey, so if you are hesitating about coming to see the Arts Weeks don't - get in your car or on the bus or train!  Don't delay, this weekend (14 and 15 April) is the last one of the Weeks.  There is plenty to see and you can incorporate a walk or beach trip in between visits to studios and galleries.

The studios and galleries open this weekend are listed below. Also the exhibition in the Canolfan Ucheldre Centre in Holyhead, where many of the artists taking part are displaying one or two pieces of their work is still on.  In addition there is a harp concert on Saturday in the Ucheldre Centre at 10.30am with Deian Rowlands and, for something completely different, later that day at 7.30pm a bands night featuring Valleum, Frizbe, Gola Ola and surprise guest appearance of The Bedheads.  The Sunday film is the animation Barnyard showing at 3.30pm in Ucheldre again.  Julie Roberts is the artist in residence in Ucheldre on Saturday 10am-1pm.

Nicola Heywood Thomas visited Anglesey on Friday to make a half hour feature about the Anglesey Arts Weeks for the BBC Radio Wales programme Arts in Wales.  The programme will be broadcast on Good Friday 6 April at 1803 hrs and repeated at 2102 hrs on Monday 9 April.  The programme presents reviews, reports and analysis in a weekly review of Wales's thriving arts scene.

Unfortunately there have been some changes to studios and events listed in the Guide:

1.  Keith Andrew's studio is open as per the dates on his profile page (page 33), but he is not listed in the chronological order in the back pages.  Therefore, when planning your route bear in mind that his studio will be open from Sat 7 to Sun 15 April (inclusive) 1030-4.30pm. No 20 on the map.

2.  Due to circumstances beyond the control of the Drama Association of Wales, the Youth Drama Day (page 28) on the Anglesey Showground on Wed 11 Apr has had to be cancelled.  We will try and resurrect this excellent idea for next year.

3.  Julie Roberts' dates (page 20) in Ucheldre have been changed from 5 &  12 Apr to 5 & 14 Apr at same times.

4.  The Holyhead Salsa class has had to close due to small numbers so there will be no classes in Holyhead on 3 & 10 Apr (page 7). The others are still running so if you were interested you could go there and register your interest or see what is involved.

IMAGE UPLOAD PROBLEMS - KNOWN

Submitted by Glyn Davies on 26 February, 2007 - 7:45pm.

To all profiled users - IMPORTANT NOTE

There is a KNOWN issue at the moment whereby images on your own PC are NOT being uploaded to the server and are therefore also innaccessible to the site itself. This means that you go to the bother of preparing images for your own personal spaces (Further Information Pages) but these cannot at present be made visible.

Can I suggest that until we have resolved the issue you do NOT waste time uploading your images for the moment. We will post you as soon as the brand new look web-site, which is waiting in the sidelines, is activated.

Kind Regards

Glyn

A workshop/training session come social will be held for Forum members at Glyn Davies' Gallery Menai Bridge on Friday 9 February starting at 7 pm.  Subjects will include sizing images for the web, accessing and updating profiles on the website and points to look out for in Arts Weeks 2007.  The idea is to work hard, and then head off for a drink and bite to eat afterwards.
